Nauset Beach South will remain open indefinitely.
There are many variables to this forecast and at any time if an unfledged brood adjusts its foraging range, the beach could close immediately. This is expected.
We were not forced to close at 11 PM on Sunday, June 1, due to the fact that the unfledged chicks have stayed clear of the OSV corridor so far. It is still presumed that they will likely re-locate in the near future and mandate closure. At that time, all OSV will be notified and required to exit the beach.
Nauset North (Residents)
Nauset North remains closed due to the lack of drivable beach. The good news is that the North held up fairly well through that last Nor'Easter. We remain hopeful that as the summer beach builds and the high tides back off, that some level of access will be on the table for this summer. Once again, we understand how important the Northside is the Town. We monitor it every day and will do everything we can to find a solution.
Please continue to check for updates.
