The Town of Orleans Affordable Housing Trust was established in 2019 by the Orleans Select Board to carry out the functions specified in Massachusetts law (MGL Chapter 44, Section 55C). The purpose of the Trust is to provide for the creation and preservation of affordable housing In Orleans, for the benefit if low- and moderate-income households, and for the funding of community housing. A Trust Fund Board, consisting of five to nine members appointed by the Select Board, serves as the Board of Trustees.

The Trust has funded the Affordable Housing Committee to do an Update of Housing Needs in Orleans and will jointly review the deliverables of the Update during 2023.
