Mission and Responsibilities
The Treasurer/Tax Collector Office is responsible for receipt, investment, and disbursement of all Town funds. The Office:
- Collects all taxes - Personal Property, Real Estate, Motor Vehicle, Boat
- Issues Short and Long-term borrowing as required
- Receives all Departmental Receipts, Parking Tickets and State Revenue
- Manages and processes Tax Title and Tax Possession property
- Pays the Town’s bills
- Processes payroll and benefits for Town and School employees
- Issues Municipal Lien Certificates

Persons / Businesses appearing on this list are presumed to be the Owners of Checks issued by the Town of Orleans, Massachusetts, which have not been cashed and are deemed abandoned. Please contact the Treasurer's Office.

Delinquent Charges / Licenses & Permits
Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 57 states that the renewal or granting of Town licenses or permits may be denied if the taxpayer, owner, permit customer or subject property has any tax bills, water charges, betterments, assessments, or other municipal charges that are currently outstanding and unpaid.

Municipal Lien Certificate Request (PDF)
The Tax Collector’s Office has ten business days after receiving a written request to furnish a Municipal Lien Certificate.

Pay Tax Bills Online
The Town of Orleans, in partnership with Invoice Cloud, is pleased to offer taxpayers an easy and secure way to view, print, and pay their Motor Vehicle, Personal Property, and Real Estate tax bills.

Personal Property Tax Information
The fiscal year for property tax covers the period from July 1 to June 30. Current fiscal taxes are assessed to owner of record on January 1 of that year.

Real Estate Tax Information
The Town of Orleans implemented a quarterly tax payment cycle effective fiscal year 2019, and bills are now due and payable on August 1, November 1, February 1, and May 1. Tax bills are mailed July 1 and January 1, with two quarterly bills in each mailing.
