Divisions
The Orleans Police Department has several divisions that all work together. Each division provides a different area of expertise and training ranging from the basic police academy to cultural awareness and dispute resolution. Our officers and civilian personnel are the first line, and the most important one, in making a difference.

Administration
The administration department consists of employees not normally involved with the everyday activities of patrolling the streets in Orleans.

Communications / Dispatch
Dispatchers receive an average of 13,000 phone calls per year requesting Police services such as information and directions, investigation of suspicious activities, and emergency assistance.

Community Policing
Community policing is a collaborative effort between the police and the community that identifies problems of crime and disorder and involves all elements of the community in the search for solutions to these problems.

The Criminal Investigation Division performs the follow-up investigative work for the Police Department.
