Affordable Housing Committee
The Town of Orleans Affordable Housing Committee is composed of seven (7) members appointed by the Orleans Select Board. The purpose of the AHC is to enable the Town to create and preserve affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households. AHC works to creating housing opportunities for a diverse population, including all age and income levels, with particular emphasis on lower income households with the highest housing needs and persons needed to meet the workforce demands of the local economy.

Affordable Housing Trust
The Town of Orleans Affordable Housing Trust was established in 2019 by the Orleans Select Board to carry out the functions specified in Massachusetts law (MGL Chapter 44, Section 55C). The purpose of the Trust is to provide for the creation and preservation of affordable housing In Orleans, for the benefit if low- and moderate-income households, and for the funding of community housing. A Trust Fund Board, consisting of five to nine members appointed by the Select Board, serves as the Board of Trustees.

Governor Prence Planning Committee
The Governor Prence Planning Committee was appointed by the Select Board in October 2021 to develop a plan for reuse of the Governor Prence Motel site that was acquired by the Town in 2021. The Committee has hired a consultant and is in the process of engaging the community and developing a plan that it will recommend to the Select Board by summer 2022.
