DEPT. OF PUBLIC WORKS & NATURAL RESOURCES
Housing is available for the seasonal position of Beach Safety Supervisor, working under the administrative direction of the Beach Director.  Provides leadership and direction to the ocean beach lifesaving program.  Anticipated schedule is early May through early October, flexible work week up to 40 hours.  Starting wage up to $22.81 per hour depending on qualifications.  Working knowledge of ocean beach lifesaving practices and current American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard/ First Aid / CPR / AED certification for professional rescuers is required.  High school diploma and at least four years’ experience as an ocean lifeguard, at least one year of which has been in a supervisory capacity.  Town employment application and job description are available on this Web page.  Submit cover letter and application to the Town Administrator, 19 School Road, Orleans, MA  02653.  Position is open until filled.
 
The Town Administrator is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Patrol Boat Operator, working under the administrative direction of the Harbormaster.  Anticipated schedule is May 21 through Sept. 23, 40 hours per week including Saturdays and Sundays.  Must be available to be on-call several nights per week.  Starting wage is $18.07 per hour.  High school diploma, First Aid and CPR certification, knowledge of Orleans waters and boating experience is required.  Town employment application and job responsibilities are available on this Town Web page.  Submit cover letter and signed application to the Town Administrator, 19 School Road, Orleans, MA  02653 by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017.
 
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS 2017 SEASONAL POSITIONS

ENDANGERED SPECIES MONITOR.  Two shifts available daily 6:30 am – 12:30 pm or 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm.  July 1 through Sept 1.  This is an outdoor position subject to various weather conditions and requires physical stamina.  Must be familiar with coastal shorebirds. Positions are available from 18 hrs/wk to over 40 hrs/wk.  Salary starting at $15.24.

HIGHWAY SEASONAL LABORER. Mowing, trimming and light roadway construction and other related duties. 40 hours per week. Salary starting at $13.37.

PARKS SEASONAL LABORER. Land care management, light construction, trash pickup and other related duties. Weekends required. Two positions available: One starting April 1through Sept. 15 and one starting May 15 through November 4th. 40 hrs/wk. Salary starting at $13.37.

GATE OFFICER. Detail-oriented, fast, accurate and responsible person to sell daily beach tickets and verify beach stickers. Weekends required. Day and night shifts available. Positions available weekends starting Memorial Day, then full time June 17 through Sept. 17.  Up to 40 hrs/wk. Salary starting at $13.37.

PARKING ATTENDANTS.  Monitoring traffic movement on and off the beach and parking areas, maintain boardwalks, sweeping, trash pickup and cleaning restrooms. Positions available weekends starting Memorial Day, then full time June 17 through Sept. 1 7. Minimum age 1 6. Salary starting at $11.82.

LIFEGUARDS. Waterfront certified lifeguard to work at Nauset Beach or Skaket Beach. Tested competitively.  Minimum age 17. 40 - 42 hrs/wk.  Positions available June 17 through Sept. 17. HOUSING AVAILABLE. Salary starting at $14.94.

CUSTODIANS.  Nightly maintenance, thorough cleaning and restocking of men's and ladies' rooms at Nauset and Skaket Beaches and various other locations. Positions available weekends starting Memorial Day, then full time June 17 through Sept. 17. 40 hrs/wk. Salary starting at $16.54.
