Planning Department Description:

Administer and oversee growth management and development activities of the Town in a comprehensive manner, providing short-term regulatory oversight and long-term strategic planning to ensure that future growth is consistent with the desires of the residents.  Provide technical and administrative support to the Planning Board to assist them in carrying out their statutory charge of acting on Subdivision and Approval Not Required (ANR) Plans, Scenic Road Tree Hearings, and any other activities required by State and Local Bylaws.  Assist applicants with the local development review process.  Assist the Planning Board in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Orleans Comprehensive Plan.  Provide assistance to various boards and committees on issues related to land use planning.  Maintain the Town's Geographic Information System (GIS).
