ORLEANS RECREATION DEPARTMENT SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAMS
*Programs begin on July 1 and run through the middle of August. Tennis Reservations runs from July 1st through labor day.
TENNIS RESERVATIONS:
Due to the high influx of summer tennis players, we have a reservation system in place from July 1 through labor day to ensure that year-round residents are able to secure court time. Reservations must be done at each site-there is no telephone on site. Residents pay $5.00 per hour per court and can reserve 48 hours in advance. Non-residents pay $10.00 per hour per court and can reserve 24 hours in advance. Senior Tennis has the Eldredge Courts reserved Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:00-10:00am. Orleans Recreation has the Elementary Courts reserved for lessons Monday through Friday 8:00-11:00am. Staff is on duty 7 days/week from 8:00am to 7:00pm.
TENNIS LESSONS:
Lessons are at Orleans Elementary School from July 1 through mid-August. The following lessons are held: Monday-Wednesday-Friday, Youth Lessons age 6-16. 8:00-8:30 beginners, 8:30-9:00 beginners, 9:00-9:30 beginners, 9:30-10:15 intermediates, 10:15-11:00 advanced. Tuesday and Thursdays 8:00-9:30 and 9:30-11:00 Adult Lessons.
SWIM LESSONS:
Lessons run Monday through Friday July 1 to mid-August 9:00-1:00pm. Schedule is posted at each site once in session. It can vary and change depending on registrations and levels. American Red Cross Levels 1 through 6 are taught. There is a $10.00 registration fee for residents. PROOF OF RESIDENCY MUST BE PROVIDED. Utility bill and or tax bill is acceptable. Lessons are held at Meetinghouse Pond (saltwater) and Pilgrim Lake (freshwater). Lessons run for 30 minutes.
ORLEANS ELEMENTARY SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM:
Runs from July 1 through mid-August from 8:30am-12 noon. Early drop-off is available from 8:00-8:30am. Program runs Monday through Friday, rain or shine. A ratio of 1 staff person per 10 participants. Various non-competitive activities are held. A few field trips are available at little or no cost. Miniature golf, bowling, library program etc., Nauset Beach Day. Arts and Crafts available at a fee of $15.00 week to cover materials. A calendar is available after the first week. Popular activities are a talent show, tennis baseball and Stanley Cup floor hockey tournament. Kida are broken up in age appropriate groups and accompanied by counselors.
FEES: other than a $10.00 swim registration fee and the $15.00 arts and crafts materials fee, there are no fees.
NON-RESIDENT FEE:
We allow non-residents to participate as long as it does not negatively affect our staffing ratios. The following fee schedule will be in effect for non-residents. Swim lessons $100 season/$20 week. Tennis Lessons $90 season/$20 week. Elementary School Program $125 season and $25 week.
RESIDENT: a year-round resident and/or a relative of a resident (grandchild, nephew etc.)
NON-RESIDENT: an individual who is not a resident of Orleans, nor staying with a resident of Orleans.
