The Gift House is not a place to bring potentially hazardous, unsanitary, unsafe, rusty or inoperable things. Large items may be disallowed due to space constraints. Any items that are deemed unacceptable by volunteers must be disposed of properly and not left on site.
Examples of unacceptable items are:
- Paints, varnishes or any flammable solvents
- Hazardous materials – gasoline, oil, pesticides, cleaning products
- Batteries
- Tires
- Large appliances or white goods – refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, gas grills
- Upholstered furniture
- Mattresses of any kind, including crib and cot pads
- Computer monitors
- Obsolete TV’s
- Microwaves
- Dehumidifiers and humidifiers
- Sinks and bathtubs
- Rugs
- Medicine
- Medical equipment
- Clothing
- Windows
