The Orleans Gift House

IMG_1407.jpgBeginning June 16, 2011 and through-out the summer season, the Gift House will be open six days a week, Thursday through Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Gift House is a small salvage operation on the grounds of the Orleans Transfer Station. The purpose of the Gift House is to allow residents an orderly and clean place to leave good, sound items that could be reused by fellow residents -- and to save the town solid waste costs.

For residents with a transfer station pass, the Gift House is open year round for browsing and donations with expanded hours during the summer. From September through May, it is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. five days a week -- closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  During the summer, it is open six days a week, including Thursdays.

Please follow the rules and do not leave things dropped off in front when the Gift House is closed. Please return during hours of operation. If you have questions about what is acceptable for drop-off, the Orleans town website has a complete list of rules.

Are you interested in volunteering at the Gift House? The duties include receiving items as they are dropped off, as well as helping with cleaning and organizing. Volunteers work only two hour shifts with another worker.  Anybody wanting to sign up, please call or email the director of volunteers, Michael Cuoco at 508-255-2256 or email martha@orleansgifthouse.com.
